Quinta da Fonte Souto, Tinto, Portalegre, Alentejo, Portugal 2019

Broody, intense core of black olive, prune, confected plum and dried black cherries, against a backdrop of mountain herbs, rosemary and roasted pine seeds. The tannins are assertive but coated in melting dark chocolate and lifted by balsamic freshness. Still coiled, this will benefit from a couple years more in bottle to come to its own.
