The Cabernet Sauvignon in this wine is blended with 15% of 'local varieties' – it doesn't specify which, but whatever they are it works well! Great value at under a tenner for the mix-six price, this is crammed with dark fruits on the nose and palate, blackberry, dark cherry and cassis, with some dried herbs, a peppery crunch, and grippy but approachable tannins. The term 'Gran Reserva' has no legal definition in Chile, but it general indicates a longer period of ageing in oak. This wine was fermented in stainless steel before being aged in oak for an unspecified length of time. It's harmonious,drinking well now and would be a perfect BBQ pick. Mix-six price: £9
